Our philosophy

 

At Safari Baby and Toddler Academy, we believe that all children learn and succeed through play. Our philosophy of child-led play is how we will help your child focus on their interests and encourage them to master the skills that have been set out to them..

 

Through play, we encourage the following skills;

Curiosity, learning, engaging, repetition, concepts, confidence and the ability to tackle new obstacles and challenges.

All of our Teachers and Assistants are qualified and passionate about children and their development. We carefully select each teacher based on their qualifications (including First Aid), their personality and their ability to nurture and develop the knowledge and well being of each child that is placed in their care.

We provide for a low child to teacher ratio in all of our classes and each class has a Teacher and Assistant. Our classes accommodate up to 15 children.

 

Our classes are divided as follows:

Little Elephant Class – 3 months to 12 months

Funny Penguin Class – 1 year to 2 years

Stripy Zebra Class - 2 to 3 year olds

Roaring Lion Class – 3 to 4 years olds

 

Our classrooms are equipped with wooden tables and chairs and allow for natural light and air to enter. All classes have cameras in them to provide extra peace of mind.

play areas

 

We provide three different play areas outside, with jungle gyms, a sandpit, grassy lawns and a bike track for all our children to enjoy. Our age groups are rotated everyday, therefore ensuring a well - organized play environment for everyone to enjoy.

Kitchen

 

Our kitchen provides well - balanced & nutritious meals and snacks, all freshly prepared by Ouma.

All of our baby food is homemade and made from the freshest fruits and vegetables available.

We also provide water throughout the day.

 

Milk Kitchen

 

We offer a separate milk kitchen in the Little Elephant Class, which is available to accommodate all babies whether breast- or bottle- fed. We have a bar fridge, microwave, kettle, bottle warmer and basin in our milk kitchen. Each child is allocated with a basket where his or her bottles are kept throughout the day.

bathrooms

 

We have two bathrooms consisting of a girls and boys toilet which are separate from each other and provide for enough privacy. Each toilet has a basin and the necessary hand soap and towel to ensure good hygiene. We use normal sized toilets with a step stool and modified child seat. We do not use potties as it is very unhygienic.

 

Our staff has their own separate bathroom.

Your peace of mind is one of our main concerns and we provide daily feedback to all of our parents through our communication books. This communication includes feeding and nap times, bathroom routine, your child’s mood and what they learned during the day.

Hygiene

 

Our facilities are cleaned and maintained on an on-going basis by our full time cleaning staff. Toys are sterilized daily, PVC mattresses are utilized during rest periods, and hand sanitizers are located inside each classroom, as well as in nappy changing areas.

 

We have also implemented an external team called Germ Cure who assists in creating a healthier environment. Germ Cure is effective, natural and eliminates 99.999% of all germs – minimizing the spread of infections. This gets done once a week or twice a week if any outbreak does occur.

 

We also have First Aid trained staff members on our premises. We have a first aid box against the wall in the passage which is easily accessible for all Staff members, as well as mobile first aid kit should it be required on the play ground.

Safety

 

Our security measures ensure peace of mind at all times and include:

 

  • Secure drop off area for parents
  • 24 hour Camera surveillance in all our areas.
  • Angel Care baby movement monitors in cots.
  • Protection from a 24-hour armed response security company – Including beams around our premises.
  • Panic buttons
  • Smoke detectors
  • Evacuation drills are carried out regularly to ensure organization in the case of an emergency
  • We provide each parent with a tag, which is used to tag your child in and out on a daily basis. The academy is not accessible without a Tag.

FEES

 

What is Included in your fee:

Full Day From: 06h30 to 17h30

Half Day From: 06h30 to 14h00

We provided the following meals: Breakfast, Morning snack, Lunch and Afternoon snack on a daily basis.

Included in your fee is a Music and Movement program which is hosted by an external Teacher on a weekly basis.

One Access Tag per family, additional tags can be order at R50 each.

Safari team you look after our little ones like they are your own. Constant hugs and cuddles and the extra effort, the friendly morning shout outs from each class room are just the best way to start our day. Never change, our Amber is one happy and blessed girl.

The amazing Safari Team are passionate about what they do and it shows in the safe, happy, and loving environment they have created for the kids. My daughter has grown into a balanced, well rounded toddler since she joined as a baby two years ago. My child loves going to school & it’s often a struggle to get her to leave at the end of the day – so as a new mom this really puts my mind at ease knowing she is happy to spend the day learning with her Safari Family! Our daughter started at Safari Baby and Toddler Academy when she was only 4 months old. Safari has been amazing from the first moment we walked in. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they go above and beyond to make the curriculum fun, relevant and beneficial for each age group. They go the extra mile, not only in achieving the milestones and on an academic level, but with the development of the child's emotional and  physical well-being and exploiting their talents. When enrolling my daughter just over a year ago, we were concerned about the delay in her speech. After voicing our concern Safari walked the road with us and addressed this problem on multiple levels and keeping us in the loop and part of the process to help her to reach an acceptable level in her speech. It has really become a home away from home for my two children. The love, support and care we get from Elaine and the Safari team is something that eliminates the guilt of having to leave my children in someone else's care.
